Reflection on Narrative Shoot #2

I filmed some more narrative with the 2 main character. When I was filming I took a few things into consideration one of them being where the sun was shining. I didn't want the sun to be facing the camera as this would create a few problem such as their faces would be dark as the sun would blind the camera. I also wanted to film in the sun rather then in the shade as this is supposed to be a happy memory and filming in the shade would give the opposite effect.

I also deliberately filmed hand held shots as this is not only common in narrative filming but this would also create verisimilitude at is feels more personal. But I had to be careful not to have to much camera shack as this would break verisimilitude by looking unprofessional and in some cases could make the viewer fell nauseous.

We also decided to film a diegetic ending where the main actor is sitting on the bus listening to the music, looking out the window and the female protagonist from the narrative walks past the bus window. This gives the audience a bit of narrative enigma as it makes the audience wonder if he was dreaming the the whole thing or if he actually is in the band and its a fragmented narrative as the beginning of their relationship starts at the end of the video.

SR: Audience Feedback 2: Throne Rough Cut 3

This is the audience feedback that we got after having posted our 3rd draft of rough cut 1that I edited. Our audience feedback will weekly help us to reflect on what we can do better. Some of the negative points mentioned include: 

• Less running sequence
• More pool scenes 
• Clearer narrative
• More color powder because the effect looked good 
• Work with color correction

SR: Rough Cut 2: Throne

This is my 2nd rough cut, which contains 1 min and 40 seconds worth of footage. I intend to post about 3-4 drafts in total of rough cut 1 in order to later on in the year do a post on "My Journey", such as last year. The "My Journey" post is supposed to reflect my work over the year and will also be a useful post for evaluation.

LYRIC VIDEO: New Track #2

As we have changed the track of the song I created a new lyric video. This time I only used photos from our shoot as it would make more sense to have the lyric video be a teases showing small details of the shoot than actual footage that might be in the music video.



Things to change:

• Instead of using red font colour use a more metallic colour.
• Have the last picture be after the drummer
• Instead of having two lines for the band name make the font size smaller so it fits on one line
• Crop the black boarders.

DIGIPAK #2: Idea

I have been thinking about the design for our digipak and will describe it in the post. This might not be what we end up using in the final but gives a ruff idea of my idea. The front cover of the digipak will feature the singer holding an umbrella as that is the album logo. The front will also have the tile of the album over it. The colour of the text or font used i haven't decided yet ill see what I think looks best.

The back of the digipak will have the back of the singer walking towards the sun with the sunlight blinding the camera. The back will also include the titles of the songs that are included in the album. As of yet I have not thought about where the barcode or colour the text will be, this is something I will experiment with.

When you open the digipak there will be a single picture of all the band members with a border on the pictures. On the picture there will also be the BMTH letters. The disk will be in-between the pages like Bring Me The Horizons "THATS THE SPIRIT" digipak. The CD will have its own art which we will discuses later on.

SR: PRODUCTION SCHEDULE Update #2

Today, I updated our production schedule (update 2) after we have filmed some footage. Unfortunately our female protagonist wasn't able to make it and so we weren't able to finish filming the entire narrative. We have also decided to choose another female protagonist, which we will be talking about in our 4th podcast.

VODCAST #2 Music Industry

A vodcast on the change in Music Videos over the years. There has been a lot of other changes to the music industry such as merchandise and how that has changed to become more then just T-Shirt and mugs. There is also the change of physical copies of music and how its gone digital.

PRACTICE MUSCI VIDEO #2

We have decided for this practice shoot that Elvis will be the one in the original "jail" costume and every one else will be in student costumes.

The video will include Elvis running from a teacher to find himself on stage. He picks up a microphone and the track starts, as he is singing the teacher enters the room and a chase sequence happens. Elvis runs into a class room to hide, he sees a lesson is happening and everyone stops working and starts to dance. The teacher enters the room again and Elvis runs out the door. When the instrumentals are playing you see shots of students playing music. The chase continues and the video ends with Elvis having left school.

This is what our costume looked like for Elvis. We tried to get the costume as close to the Jailhouse rock costume. The costume consists of shiny shoes, black jeans, a black jeans jacket. We had hoped to find a black and white striped T-shirt but we didn't find one in time so we ended up using a blank white T-shirt. We also tried to have the hair look like Elvis's.
